My dream is to help girls and young women develop the confidence, skills and courage to step forward and lead - their own way.

I have led a fortunate life.

The people around me have supported, challenged and encouraged me to follow my passions, even when it was a path less travelled or when my choices could have been perceived as strange.

I pursued cricket amongst other sports - tennis, hockey, indoor cricket. But it was cricket that captured my imagination – I just thought that my skills would be trapped in the backyard because girls didn’t play.

Or did they?

I clearly remember signing up for a season with the boys team and my mother thanking the nice man profusely for letting me play! This was like a dream come true – a real game!

The rest is now history. I trained, played, travelled across the seas to foreign places, won world cups, and lost world cups. And all along, I watched, listened, asked questions, failed, succeeded and learnt. I learnt about life, people, team work, resilience, hard work, and about leadership.

These were skills I needed to transition to a life beyond the boundary.

I have since walked the hallways and offices that have primarily been the domain of men and have again been supported, challenged and encouraged to contribute to the sport in other ways. This journey has not been without bumps and bruises and these have shaped me.

I came to discover that I must lead myself before I could lead others and inspire them to pursue their best.

For what?

To help others find their voice, their courage and their way to break the mould so that together we can challenge the way things have always been done and the results that these practices yield.

Can you imagine a world where 86k people turned up to watch the Australian Women's’ Cricket Team play a T20 FINAL on International Women’s Day on March 8 2020? I did, and it happened!

Can you imagine a world where more young girls and women step forward into leadership opportunities with confidence in the future? I can!

It’s time to crack the code and start delivering on the promise of an equitable world where everyone has the chance to make a positive difference.
